The key issue of Can Tho tourism industry at the present is how to retain tourists staying in Can Tho longer. This problem requires a comprehensive solution in calling for investment; building tourism products, tourism infrastructure and services to mark a highlight to serve tourists. Particularly, priority is given to unique works and types of tourism which are invested in both physical facilities and human resources to create links in local tourism development. One of them is the complex of international racecourse and entertainment works when the Government has officially issued a decree on piloting the legalization of betting business in sports like horse racing and international football.

In line with Can Tho’s policies, Mr. Park Jung Kwan, General Director of SIBC International Limited Company, said that Can Tho, the capital of the Mekong Delta with geographic advantages, would be the first option of SIBC to develop the project on International Racecourse Complex.

As expected, the project has a total investment of over VND 1 trillion with some items, such as racecourse and grand stand with capacity of 50.000 people; horse riding and polo clubs, 72-hole golf course, baseball field and cricket pitch; children’s recreation areas, water park; restaurants’ system, dining areas, cultural activities, ect on an area of about 150 hectares in Vo Van Kiet street, Binh Thuy district. These works are expected to create jobs for about 20.000 workers.

Mr. Park Jung Kwan believes that if the project receives positive support from the city government, in the future it will also develop surrounding areas and attract large numbers of visitors from neighboring provinces, creating a fascinating tourist site for the whole region, having a positive contribution to maintaining the number of tourists and creating turnover for the city’s tourism industry.

The leaders of the Can Tho city departments and agencies all welcomed the suggestions from SIBC International Limited Company and engaged to create  maximum support conditions for the project to proceed smoothly.

In the conclusion of the working session, Chairman of Can Tho People’s Committee, Mr. Vo Thanh Thong said that the racecourse project of SIBC International Limited Company was completely suitable with the plan and needs of tourism development of the city. He also hoped that the two sides would reach a consensus on terms and conditions for the project to be kicked off early.
