This meaningful event, held as part of Workers’ Month 2025 in Can Tho City, aimed to acknowledge and commend the remarkable contributions of exemplary enterprises that have consistently supported and cared for the material and spiritual well-being of union members and workers. It also honored outstanding union members and workers - individuals who have tirelessly strived, dedicated themselves, and innovated in their work, significantly contributing to the development of their enterprises and the city as a whole.

Can Tho City currently has over 13,000 active enterprises, serving as a key driver of the city’s economy. These enterprises provide employment for more than 100,000 workers, public employees, and laborers, including nearly 90,000 union members.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Ha, Deputy Head of the Publicity and Education and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee, and Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai, Chairwoman of the Can Tho City Federation of Labor, present Certificates of Merit and emblems to outstanding union members.

According to Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai, Chairwoman of the Can Tho City Federation of Labor, despite facing numerous challenges over the past year, particularly due to domestic and international socio-economic conditions, enterprises in the city have remained resilient, dynamic, and innovative. They have sustained their growth momentum, provided stable employment for workers, and made positive contributions to the city’s budget and socio-economic development.

Concurrently, the city’s trade union members have continued to mature and demonstrate responsibility, not only in production and labor but also in community activities. Their efforts have enhanced the reputation of Can Tho’s workers as heroic, compassionate, and creative individuals of the western capital.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, praised and congratulated the 19 outstanding enterprises and 31 exemplary union members honored at the event. He affirmed that these individuals and organizations are exemplary models representing the tens of thousands of trade union members participating in the city’s patriotic emulation movements.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, delivers a speech at the conference.

According to the Chairman of the City People’s Committee, over the past period, the city’s trade unions at all levels have tirelessly innovated and creatively organized patriotic emulation movements, playing a significant role in caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers. The Can Tho City Federation of Labor has been proactive and flexible in broadly implementing emulation movements such as “Excellent Labor, Creative Labor,” “Initiatives and Technical Improvements,” and “Productivity - Quality - Efficiency,” while aligning with Directive 05 of the Politburo on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and lifestyle. Through these movements, thousands of practical initiatives and solutions from workers, public employees, and laborers have been applied in practice, generating billions of VND in benefits for enterprises and providing further impetus to enhance productivity and labor quality. Additionally, trade unions at all levels have actively proposed practical initiatives to the city’s Party Committee and authorities, contributing to the widespread dissemination of patriotic emulation movements, particularly at grassroots trade unions, which are directly engaged with workers and enterprises. Welfare programs such as “Tet Reunion,” “Workers’ Month,” “Thanking Workers,” “Enterprises for Workers - Workers for Enterprises,” and support funds like the Poor Workers’ Capital Assistance Fund and the Golden Heart Charity Social Fund have been highly effective, providing support and fostering trust among workers, especially those in difficult circumstances.

“These commendable results affirm the strong resonance and substantial depth of emulation movements among the cadres, union members, workers, public employees, and laborers throughout the city”, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen emphasized.

Interaction with representatives of enterprises, trade union officials, and outstanding union members at the conference.

Chairman Truong Canh Tuyen proposed that, in the coming period, the trade union organization must undergo significant transformation in its structure, operational methods, and mindset to effectively fulfill its role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers, while contributing to maintaining political and social stability. The city’s trade unions at all levels need to boldly innovate their approach to emulation movements in the new context, ensuring that these movements are accessible, practical, and attractive to a wide range of union members and workers. Additionally, trade unions should strengthen coordination with authorities and employers to effectively improve the material and spiritual well-being of workers, with a focus on implementing the Law on Grassroots Democracy, organizing regular workplace dialogues, and enhancing the effectiveness of negotiating, signing, and implementing collective labor agreements. At the same time, efforts should be made to strengthen and improve the quality of People’s Inspection Boards, promote the democratic rights of union members and workers, and foster consensus and cohesion within enterprises.

Delegates take commemorative photos at the conference.

The Chairman also shared that the city is currently developing several industrial parks and clusters, and with the upcoming administrative reorganization at the provincial level, there will be expanded opportunities for urban-industrial-service development. On this basis, trade unions at all levels need to intensify efforts to recruit new union members and establish trade union organizations in new industrial parks. They should enhance propaganda and mobilization to encourage workers to participate in emulation movements and build corporate culture, contributing to maintaining political and social stability, attracting investment, and promoting the city’s socio-economic development. Furthermore, trade unions should strengthen their supervisory role in ensuring the implementation of labor policies and laws, guaranteeing that workers’ legitimate rights are respected and substantively protected.
