At the meeting, Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, said that the traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and staunch solidarity between the Party, State, and people of the two countries Vietnam - Cuba has been continuously consolidated and developed in all fields such as politics, diplomacy, national defense, economics, science and technology, education, health... Moreover, Cuba continues to be an important and reliable partner of Vietnam and Vietnam is also Cuba's second-largest trading partner in Asia.

In Can Tho city, there is currently one Cuban FDI project, the Microbiological rat poison factory of Labiofam Vietnam Co., Ltd., with registered investment capital of 5,652,540 USD. According to the Department of Foreign Affairs of Can Tho city, Can Tho city exported 39.68 thousand USD worth of goods to Cuba in the first 4 months of 2022, mainly fishery products.

Besides, Chairman Tran Viet Truong also hoped to receive support from Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen in the fields of agriculture, health care, and education. Can Tho city’s authorities will create favorable conditions for Cuban investors to explore cooperation and investment opportunities in Can Tho city.

Mr. Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen thanked the city leaders for the warm welcome and said that this was his first visit to Can Tho city as an Ambassador since taking office in Vietnam. Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen highly appreciated the city's socio-economic development over the years. Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen affirmed that he will act as a bridge to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and boost the relationship between Cuba and Can Tho city in the coming time.
