The Lifelong Learning Week 2024 is scheduled from October 1 to October 7. The theme for the event is "Developing a reading culture to promote learning," which emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning for the people of Can Tho.

Throughout the week, libraries in the city, particularly those at universities, colleges, and high schools, will enhance the use of information technology, increase the availability of electronic documents, and implement library management software to better cater to the needs of students and individuals in a digital setting.

Local educational institutions will promote participation in online reading clubs among teachers, students, and the public. They will also encourage the exchange of exciting books, enhance skills for accessing official information online, and support reading at public libraries.

The Study Promotion Association of Can Tho City has made significant progress in promoting learning and talent development nationwide. Currently, there are nearly 7,000 associations` with over 392,800 members.

Leaders of the Study Promotion Association of Can Tho City and Can Tho Municipal Department of Education and Training signed a cooperation plan between the two units.

In 2024, the Study Promotion Association of Can Tho City awarded 76,311 scholarships, gifts, and rewards to impoverished yet diligent students. This initiative advocates and fosters lifelong learning for all individuals and actively contributes to enhancing people's knowledge, developing human resources, and nurturing local talents.

During the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Can Tho Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien expressed his high appreciation for the advancements in promoting education and nurturing talent in the districts and towns of Can Tho City. He also emphasized the need for active participation in various learning forms, promoting a continuous learning culture for everyone, every family, and throughout life.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien specifically highlighted the city's upcoming plans to implement online learning programs, enhance the use of information technology in teaching and learning, and facilitate the creation and dissemination of valuable open educational resources such as books, newspapers, and lectures in a digital environment through the E-portals of different agencies and units.

Due to their outstanding academic performance, the Study Promotion Association of Can Tho City awarded two scholarships and bestowed prestigious titles upon the top students at both the school and university levels in the 2024 National High School Exam. The event is also an opportunity to honor the teachers, educational administrators, and education promoters in Can Tho who have significantly contributed to the city's academic and talent promotion efforts. Their contributions have greatly aided in the training and support of students, enabling them to achieve high exam results.

During the launching ceremony, Can Tho City Library organized an exhibition featuring 200 books, newspapers, and magazines centered on “President Ho Chi Minh - An Example of a Successful Lifelong Worker and Learner.” The exhibition's content showcased the Party’s guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, Uncle Ho's example, and advanced models in the country promoting lifelong learning and talent encouragement, as well as aspects of culture, society, and the people of Can Tho. The exhibition highlighted two heart-shaped book models introducing “President Ho Chi Minh - An Example of a Successful Lifelong Worker and Learner” and "Learning from the Example of President Ho Chi Minh's Lifelong Work and Study.”
