Japan supports Can Tho in building a land information management system

On the morning of May 12th, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, had met and worked with Mr. Kohei Yamamoto, 2nd Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed the cooperation between Can Tho city and Japan in the field of land management and the plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

Regarding land cooperation, at the beginning of May 2022, Fujitsu Vietnam Co., Ltd. and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho city signed a memorandum of understanding on building a land database in three districts of Can Tho city namely O Mon district, Thot Not district, and Vinh Thanh district. The Japanese side wishes to implement the project of building a land database of Can Tho city using ODA loans from the Japanese Government.

Due to the important nature of the project as well as the expectations of the Governments of the two countries, the Japanese side wishes to cooperate with Can Tho city so that the project can be implemented soon, said Mr. Kohei Yamamoto.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, said that the project of building a land management database for Can Tho city is very necessary, contributing to the development of Can Tho into a smart city. The Government and the National Assembly have created conditions for Can Tho City with financial mechanisms and policies. On that basis, the city will balance capital sources to take advantage of the financial support from the Japanese Government for the above project.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc He, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city worked with Mr. Kohei Yamamoto, Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam.

Regarding activities towards the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, the Department of Foreign Affairs of Can Tho city will act as the focal point to coordinate with the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City. These meaningful activities will strengthen the cohesion between the two governments in general and between Japanese localities and Can Tho city in particular, creating a premise for cooperation in socio-economic fields.

Vice-Chairman Nguyen Ngoc He also wishes to receive support from Mr. Kohei Yamamoto, the Second Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, in promoting Can Tho city's beautiful images and introducing Can Tho city to the Japanese businesses. Can Tho city will create favorable conditions along with the best preferential policies for Japanese enterprises wishing to invest in the city.

On behalf of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, Mr. Kohei Yamamoto thanked the leaders of Can Tho city for trusting and supporting the Japanese Government's ODA project. Mr. Kohei Yamamoto would make efforts to coordinate with relative departments and agencies to develop a land information management system in Can Tho city in the coming time.

Towards activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan, Mr. Kohei Yamamoto said that the event will be an important milestone marking the development of friendship between the two countries. Therefore, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam will actively coordinate with Can Tho city to organize cultural exchange and investment promotion activities between the two countries within the framework of this event.
