Cai Rang District is the "gateway" of Can Tho City. Its location and magnitude have been identified as a key economic development of the city in the future. Therefore, early in its establishment, Cai Rang District relied on internal resources for development; upheld people’s self-reliance, will and creative thinking; appropriately invested in infrastructure construction for economic development,  proactively solved social problems. Cai Rang District is 5 km away from Can Tho City to the south. The national highway runs across the district. It has 6,886 hectares of natural area and a population of 77,918 people and 14,344 households. In addition, Cai Rang District Hung Phu Industrial Zone I, II , new residential area called “Nam Can Tho”, Cai Lan vegetable oil processing plant, Cai Cui Seaport and Can Tho Bridge located in the district has offered favorable conditions for it to become a dynamic economic region. It has received the attention of Can Tho City Party Committee, People's Committee, other departments, wards , and especially people in the district. Here, people have had a long revolutionary tradition, and they are industrious, clever creative. Its economic potential is abundant. All of the above are positive factors to accelerate the process of modernization and industrialization, creating a premise for Cai Rang District to move up firmly.
