Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People’s Committee believes that Stroke Intervention School 2025 is not only an annual professional event, but also an important milestone in the multi-year journey of building a network of emergency, training, research and connecting stroke treatment in the entire Mekong Delta region of S.I.S Can Tho International General Hospital, aiming for international-level treatment quality.
According to Dr. Tran Chi Cuong, president of the Interventional Neuroradiology Society of Ho Chi Minh City, Director of Can Tho S.I.S International General Hospital, stroke has now become a global burden and is one of the leading causes of death in Vietnam and many countries around the world. Therefore, in parallel with preventive treatment, medical treatment, all methods combined with each other, endovascular intervention is one of the very difficult areas, requiring a good and skilled professional team, along with modern machinery and equipment, especially how we can reach patients during the golden time. That is a huge challenge that not every place can do. “S.I.S. Can Tho is fortunate to be a successful model, in addition to directly treating patients in the Western region, the hospital has now become a training center for the whole country and many countries around the world”, Dr. Tran Chi Cuong added.
Delegates attending the Workshop
According to Dr. Tran Chi Cuong, one of the special highlights of this training course is that in addition to learning theory, the delegates will also practice directly on animal models and demonstrate typical clinical cases at S.I.S Can Tho. In addition, the delegates will also focus on in-depth discussions and share typical clinical cases to come up with the best treatment methods for patients.
Within the framework of the event, on June 14th, S.I.S. Can Tho International General Hospital will inaugurate the US-standard Preclinical Research Center (Animal Lab). The event marked an important milestone in endovascular intervention training in Vietnam, opening up new development directions in medical research and practical training.
