This is an activity within the series of cooperation activities between the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection and Syngenta Vietnam Company for the period 2021 - 2025 in order to contribute to promoting and spreading green lifestyle, raising awareness of environmental protection, and building new rural areas.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Thai Nghiem - Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Agriculture and Environment – highly appreciated the active attention and enthusiastic support and responsibility of Syngenta Company in implementing the initiative to carry out synchronous activities on the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5^th), integrating the Tet tree planting event of Can Tho City and the “Clean Environment - Green Life” Program of Syngenta Company. The event fully demonstrates the meaning of the message so that each citizen can be aware and takes specific actions to contribute to making the environment cleaner and life greener.

According to Mr. Tran Thai Nghiem, over the past time, the production level of farmers has been increasingly improved, the level of intensive farming has been increasingly high, so the use of materials for production has been increasing. However, the collection and treatment of used pesticide packaging is still a difficult issue, requiring the cooperation and perseverance of all agencies, businesses and farmers.

At the launching ceremony, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the city proposed Party committees at all levels, authorities, and socio-political organizations to promote extensive propaganda in many forms to the masses about the purpose and meaning of Tet Tree planting Festival, environmental sanitation activities, garbage collection and treatment, especially the collection of used bottles and pesticide packaging. In addition, actively mobilize all classes of people to participate in the movement of planting and protecting trees, the movement of effective environmental sanitation for Can Tho city to become more ecological, civilized and modern.

On this occasion, Syngenta Vietnam awarded 10 scholarships, which are 10 bicycles to disadvantaged students in Phong Dien town, helping them to confidently go to school. In addition, the Youth Union of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho City presented 10 gifts to disadvantaged students.

Previously, within the framework of the program's activities, many farmers in Can Tho were trained and instructed on how to use pesticides properly, safely and responsibly, and at the same time participated in activities to collect used pesticide packaging organized by Syngenta Company.
