Date: 28/11/2024

On November 27, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for implementing Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo, Resolution No. 45/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly, Resolution No. 98/NQ-CP of the Government, and other critical projects in Can Tho City, led a delegation to inspect the progress of projects at the Vinh Thanh Industrial Park (VSIP Can Tho IP).

The road connecting National Highway 80 to the VSIP Can Tho IP (D1 Road) has been allocated a total investment of over 172.4 billion VND. Compensation and site clearance work has been completed at 100%, and construction progress currently stands at 79%. The road is expected to be operational by the end of 2024.

Additionally, the road connecting the Vam Cong Bridge to the IP (D2 Road) has an investment of over 384.6 billion VND and a total length of 1,217 meters. Site clearance for this road has also reached 100%, and it is anticipated to be completed and put into use by April 2025.

The resettlement area designated for VSIP Can Tho IP covers a planned area of 52.2 hectares. In Phase 1, 22.5 hectares will be developed, providing 547 resettlement lots, accommodating an expected population of around 4,000. Phase 1 of the resettlement area has successfully handed over 100% of the land, with construction starting in August 2024. It is projected that 300 resettlement plots will be completed before the Lunar New Year of 2025, allowing people to draw lots for land to construct their homes.

Site clearance for the VSIP Can Tho IP has been completed for 100% of the area, equivalent to 293.7 hectares. The VSIP investors have addressed approximately 65% of the weak soil along the road adjacent to the path leading from National Highway 80 to the IP. Currently, preparations are underway for constructing a wastewater treatment plant and other necessary tasks.

Furthermore, the VSIP investors have requested support from the city's departments and sectors to expedite the procedures for granting proper land-use certificates. This will help complete the infrastructure and ensure clean land is available for secondary investors.

Through inspection of the ongoing construction projects, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu expressed high appreciation for completing site clearance over approximately 300 hectares for the IP, accomplished within 10 months. He emphasized the need for the city's departments, sectors, and the People's Committee of Vinh Thanh district to promptly organize a preliminary review of the site clearance compensation efforts once the procedures are completed. This report should evaluate the work and draw lessons learned to prepare for future IPs and the city's upcoming vital projects.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu asked relevant departments, agencies, and sectors to continue supporting VSIP investors in overcoming challenges. He reaffirmed the commitment of the entire political system to prioritize the VSIP Can Tho project as a critical task. VSIP needs to expedite the completion of land and infrastructure investment procedures in the industrial park to welcome the first secondary investors to begin constructing factories by April and May 2025. This timeline aligns with the city's celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification. The construction of new factories in the VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park will play a significant role in industrialization and urbanization, providing fresh momentum and vitality for the city's overall development.
