Many cultural and artistic activities will take place in Can Tho on April 30th and May 1st

On the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and Reunification Day, International Workers' Day, and the 133rd anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh, Can Tho City is planning to organize 9 major events in the second quarter of 2023 to celebrate these occasions.

On the occasion of the Hung Kings Commemorations, the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and Reunification Day (April 30th, 1975 - April 30th, 2023), International Workers' Day (May 1st), and the 133rd anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19th, 1890 - May 19th, 2023), The organizing committee for celebrations in Can Tho City has planned to organize many cultural, artistic, sports, and tourism activities to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere, meeting the entertainment needs of the city's residents and tourists in general.

Can Tho City will organize the 10th Southern Folk Cake Festival from April 28th to May 2nd, 2023, featuring main activities such as cake-offering ceremony at the City's Hung King Temple; the opening ceremony; a competition for making traditional cakes and performances on how to make various types of traditional cakes; the organization of booths and decoration of the festival space; and traditional games.

In addition, the city will organize six activities to celebrate the Hung Kings Commemorations, including the Hung Kings Commemorations program at the City's Hung King Temple; activities related to the Hung Kings Commemorations in districts and wards; an exhibition on the Hung Vuong Era and Dong Son culture; an art photography exhibition themed "Can Tho's Fragrance"; the 9th Festival of Don Ca Tai Tu (southern traditional music); and the Tug of War and Stick-Pushing Competition.

Moreover, on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and Reunification Day, International Workers' Day, and the 133rd anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh, Can Tho City is expected to organize nine major events in April 30th holidays and the second quarter of 2023.

Along with that, Can Tho city is organizing cultural, sports, and tourism activities to welcome the events, including the National 125cc-150cc Motorcycle Racing Championship in 2023 (on April 30th); the Preliminary round of the Cultural Ambassador Reading Contest (in Q2 2023); Book exhibition to celebrate Vietnamese Book and Reading Culture Day on April 21st response to the World Book and Copyright Day on April 23rd (from April 19th to June 3rd, 2023 at the city library); City Farmers' Football Championship in 2023 (in Q2 2023);

Ky Yen Thuong Dien festival in Binh Thuy Communal House in 2023 (from June 1st to June 3rd, 2023 at the Binh Thuy Communal House architectural and art monument); Tan Loc Fruit Garden Tourism Day in 2023 (from June 22nd to June 24th, 2023 at Tan Loc Dong Cultural Monument, Thot Not district); "Cai Rang Floating Market Cultural Tourism Day" in 2023 (early July 2023 at Cai Rang Floating Market stop).

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Tuan, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, the preparation for the events has been reviewed and implemented properly by related functional units and localities according to the plan, which has been approved and endorsed by the city's leadership.

The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism is continuing to advise the city's People's Committee to mobilize additional sponsors to ensure sufficient funding for organizing the events.
