This is an annual event to promote the friendly relationship and cooperation between Can Tho City and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and between the people of the two countries in general; create a premise for regularly organizing exchange activities and learning about the cultural beauties between the two countries. This is also an opportunity for the people of Can Tho to practice and get more familiar with the practice of Yoga and health training.
Delegates performed the lamp lighting ceremony at the event. This is a traditional Indian ritual with the meaning of conveying positive energy and human aspirations for enlightenment.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien - Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee - thanked the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City for choosing Can Tho city to organize a meaningful International Day of Yoga 2024. "Through the event, we not only contributes to strengthening and fostering the friendly relationship between Vietnam and India, but also helps promote the image and people of Can Tho and the beautiful country of Vietnam to a large number of international friends", Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien emphasized.

Nearly 1,000 Yoga practitioners from Yoga Clubs, Indian students and people in the city participated in the practice of the basic Yoga formula under the guidance of Yoga Instructors on the morning of June 19.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Giang, Chairwoman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Can Tho City and representative of the Vietnam - India Friendship Association of Can Tho City awarded certificates to individuals and Yoga Clubs for their contributions to the activities of International Yoga Day in particular and the Yoga development movement in general in Can Tho City.
It is known that since 2015, International Yoga Day has been held on June 21 every year. This day was chosen by the United Nations General Assembly to honor the values and benefits of yoga for human health, and is also an opportunity to encourage people to practice yoga together to prevent diseases as well as connect the community together. Through many organizations, International Yoga Day has become a very meaningful event, attracting thousands of attendees and becoming a major festival for people practicing Yoga in Can Tho city.
