At the reception, Deputy Commander-in-Chief General Thong Thao Rin appreciated the good friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia. He expressed his sincere gratitude to the leaders and people of Vietnam, particularly Can Tho City, for their continuous support towards Cambodia over the years. He extended Tet wishes to the municipal Party Organization, authorities, and people of Can Tho City and wished for solidarity, friendship, and long-term cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam.

Vice Chairman of Can Tho Municipal People's Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien, expressed his gratitude to Deputy Commander-in-Chief General Thong Thao Rin and his delegation for their visit. He mentioned that 2024 will be a significant year as it marks the 20th anniversary of Can Tho City becoming a centrally-governed city. Over the past two decades, Can Tho City has strived to achieve comprehensive economic, cultural, and social development goals that have made a significant contribution to the overall development of the Mekong Delta region and Vietnam. These achievements were made possible thanks to the cooperation and consensus of the political system and the people of Can Tho, as well as the active support from international friends, including Cambodia. The two sides maintain a friendly relationship through regular activities, such as meetings, cultural exchanges, cooperation programs, and people-to-people exchanges.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien wished that the fine neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia would keep growing.
