On the afternoon of May 29^th, leaders of Can Tho city People's Committee informed that there has just been a decision to approve the implementation project of TMS Global Joint Stock Company (based in Hanoi) on building a 5-star resort, combining high-class eco-tourism and entertainment area in Con Son islet.

The project scale is about 75ha, including the entire Con Son islet area and reception station, parking lot, marina on the mainland (expected to upgrade and expand the existing pier on Huynh Man Dat Street, Bui Huu Nghia Ward, Binh Thuy District).

The investment of the 5-year project (from 2019 to 2023) is estimated to cost a total of 1,571 billion VND.

Leaders of Can Tho city People's Committee asked the investors to preserve the local cultural identity and build a synchronous technical infrastructure system while implementing the project. Furthermore, they have to create favorable conditions for people affected during the implementation of project through compensation, support and resettlement.

Can Tho city leaders also required investors to ensure the approved schedule, abide by the law on investment, land, construction, tourism, environmental protection and current regulations of Can Tho city People's Committee.

Within 6 months after being granted decision for investment, if the investors do not actively implement investment procedures, the Municipal People's Committee will revoke the investment policy.

Con Son islet has four sides surrounded by Hau River. It also has a natural canals system. Con Son islet is about 600m from the mainland and about 6km from Ninh Kieu wharf. People can get to Con Son islet through the system of ships and ferries operating on Hau River. This islet is also one of the most famous community-based tourist areas in Can Tho city with flying snakehead fish show.
