At the meeting, Lieutenant General Yong Mao informed the leaders of Can Tho city about border security and facilitating the Vietnamese people living in Cambodia. Lieutenant General Yong Mao expressed deep gratitude to Vietnam in general, Vietnam People’s Army and Can Tho city in particular that have helped Cambodia in food; trained military human resources; repaired technical equipment and built houses and offices at all levels in recent years. Cambodia always remembers the help of Vietnamese volunteers in the liberation of Cambodia.

The two sides also exchanged the views on cooperation in the field of economy between the Agency for Development, the Ministry of National Defense - Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Can Tho city. Lieutenant General Yong Mao also reported that at present, the Cambodian Agency for Development has cooperated in economic development with many units under Military Region 9 and some cities and provinces in the Mekong Delta.

Visiting Can Tho this time, the Cambodian Agency for Development calls for and expects to seek investment cooperation opportunities from businesses and companies in some projects, such as: planting hybrid acacia , producing rice for export, raising shrimps in nature, raising herd bulls for export, building urban areas, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, importing and exporting equipment and building materials.

On behalf of Can Tho city leaders, Mr. Le Van Tam- Permanent Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee informed the delegation about the socio-economic development of the city. He wished in the coming time, the Agency for Development, the Ministry of National Defense - Royal Cambodian Armed Forces to continue creating favorable conditions to help Vietnamese people living in Cambodia.
