There were many places attracted tourists such as the Pedestrian Bridge with nearly 14,500 visitors, the Southern Truc Lam Zen Monastery (in Phong Dien District) with nearly 15,000 visitors, My Khanh tourism village (in Phong Dien District) with nearly 5,500 visitors and Lung Cot Cau tourism site (in Phong Dien District) with nearly 4,400 visitors. The public security, fire prevention and food safety were ensured contributing a comfortable environment for visitors during the holidays in Can Tho. The number of tourists to the city was quite large but the accommodations and tourism sites still satisfied the demand of them. Many four and five star hotels were full of guests with the occupancy levels reached 90 percent on average.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho, the number of visitors coming to Can Tho increased in comparison with that of 2016 because this year holiday lasted four days. Most of them were from neighboring areas, Ho Chi Minh city and northern provinces. Especially, on May 2nd, nearly 50,000 visitors including 1,500 foreigners came to Can Tho. The total overnight accommodations were estimated at 5,200 guests.
