The Book Festival was controlled by the People’s Committee of Can Tho city and organized by the Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the People’s Committee of Ninh Kieu district, and other relevant departments, divisions, boards of Can Tho city.

The second Book Festival in Can Tho city in 2017 was expanded both in forms and contents. There were 96 participating units with more than 270 booths related to publishing, printing and distributing books in which over 195,000 titles with nearly 2,3 million copies were displayed and sold at the festival. Beside the increasing of the booths, the festival also had the participation of neighboring provinces as Ca mau, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Binh Duong and some foreign publishers coming from Britain, the United States, Australia, Korea. In addition, the Book Festival organizers set up 2 kiosks as an experiment to help customers in finding the information of the festival as well as the tourism of Can Tho city.

According to the organizers, there were about 800,000 visitors visiting the festival in the opening evening and 420,000 copies were sold with VND 3 billion sales.
