The festival was organized to honor and assert the advantages and potentialities to develop tourism in Ninh Kieu district in particular, Can Tho city in general with the specific characteristic namely, “Urban tourism - River tourism” in the general tendency of socio-economic development of Can Tho city and the Mekong Delta, thereby promoting the typical tourist site in the Mekong Delta: Ninh Kieu Wharf.

The festival is also a bridge for officials of Culture, Sports and Tourism Departments, artisans, actors and athletes of districts in Can Tho city to meet and exchange experiences through community activities, cultural exchanges and mass sports to preserve and promote traditional cultural values of each locality, such as Ninh Kieu flower garland competition namely “Convergence and Shine”; displaying and exhibit ting typical products of districts, books, paintings and pictures with the theme “Ninh Kieu - Can Tho: Yesterday and Today”, performing arts and music on the river ... These activities will last until August 21st. Especially, the Flower Garland will be displayed until August 25th.
Speaking at the Festival, Mr. Le Van Tam, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Can Tho city, proposed that the People’s Committee of Ninh Kieu district directed the Organizing Board to regularly monitor the organizing activities and ensure the activities happed as planning. In addition, the security, order and safety for tourists during the festival should be paid attention; The Organizing Board must also ensure the environmental landscape, food safety and hygiene. Moreover, the Vice Chairman suggested that the organizers should monitor the services and the parking places surrounding the area of the festival to make sure that the prices are listed to prevent the price hikes... to ensure the success of the Festival and create good impression in the hearts of tourists in and out of the city.
