Accordingly, Can Tho City will pilot English language textbooks being appraised by Ministry of Education and Training. In parallel with English language textbooks being guided and used in the 2016-2017 school year, the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City will pilot some new English textbooks, including “i- learn My Phonics grade 1” for grade 1, “Explore our world ” for grade 1, “i- learn Smart Start grade 3” for grade 3 in the 2017-2018 school year. The Education and Training Board in districts will select one or two Elementary Schools to pilot each of these books.

Also, the department will pilot some compulsory subjects in the new general education, including STEM- Computer Science in all classes of grade 1 and 2 or choose from 2 to 3 classes in these grades, and active experiential activities in all classes of the whole schools. Each district will select one or two Elementary Schools to pilot STEM- Computer Science grade 1.
