The association’s main missions in 2018 are continuing to recruit 10 more members, bringing the total up to 82 members; setting up one more professional club directly under the association; surveying; raising the quality and building a system of typical tourist sites at the city level as well as at the Mekong Delta level; strengthening the link between clubs, provinces and cities that connected to Can Tho tourism.
Last year, the association coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to survey and to recognize 5 typical tourist destinations at the city level in 2017 such as Bao Gia Trang Vien ecological garden, Lê Lộc ecological garden (Cai Rang), Bui Huu Nghia historical monument (Bình Thuy), Sau Hoai Vietnamese rice noodle - pizza (Ninh Kieu) and Giao Duong ecological garden (Phong Dien); bringing the total number of tourist attractions in the city to 11. Particularly, the hotel club has signed the agreement on the price of accommodation (hotels from 1-5 stars), in order to create a healthy competitive environment and contribute to improve the quality of tourism services in Can Tho.
In 2017, Can Tho tourism welcomed 7.5 million visitors, an increase of 41% compared to the same period in 2016, of which in-house guests reached 2.18 million (increased by 27%) and international visitors reached 305,000 visitors, increased by 18%. Total revenue from tourism reached nearly 2.900 billion VND, increased by 59% compared to the same period in 2016. Last year, Can Tho Tourism Association had recruited 17 new members, bringing the total membership to 72 (including honorary members) and established Phong Dien tourist garden club. Today, the association has seven clubs namely Hotel, Travel, Transportation, Tour guide, Tennis, Cai Rang’s and Phong Dien’s tourist garden.
