The Sixth Southern Traditional Cake Festival will take place from April 5th to April 9th (ie from the 9th to the 13th of lunar March - coincides with the death anniversary of Hung Kings on the 10th of lunar March) at The Investment Trade Tourism Promotion Center and The International Exhibition Fair Center in Can Tho city with the theme “Sweet flavor of the South”.
Up to now, nearly 250 booths with more than 100 kinds of traditional cakes have registered including 148 traditional cake booths, 20 traditional cuisine booths, 60 booths for specialties from other regions and industrial products supporting traditional cakes. In addition, there are 15 booths coming from foreign countries as Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, India, Korea, Thailand, France together with 15 provinces and cities of the whole country participating in the festival.
In the framework of the festival, many activities will take place to attract visitors like the baking contest of delicious traditional cakes in the period of international integration, folk games, traditional music performing, calligraphy writing, nightly art performing, street festival, programs promoting tourism and food of Can Tho, conference on “The maintaining and developing of traditional cakes through tourism” and the show “Ao dai (a kind of Vietnamese long dress) Museum – Point of time” of Sy Hoang.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Le Van Tam requested the Organizing Committee to have the best control on food safety, clean environment. He also reminded of listing prices on products to make sure to prevent the price hikes and avoiding unclear and poor quality products. Moreover, the social communication work and image contribution should be strengthened to attract visitors in the country as well as foreigners to the festival.
