I. Functions:

Providing state management of scientific and technological activities; developing scientific and technological potentials; managing product quality metrological standards; managing intellectual property (excluding copyright in the fields of arts and literature); managing radiation safety and nuclear in Can Tho City.

II . Main Duties:

Develop and implement long -term and short-term plans on scientific research and technological development to serve the economic and social development strategies of the city. Organize and manage scientific programs, research projects, and technological development projects funded by the state.

Select and approve specific scientific and technological tasks and individuals responsible for implementing these tasks. Monitor, inspect task implementation, assess, test and publish the results of scientific research.

Manage the work of product quality metrological standards; manage scientific initiatives, intellectual property, technology transfer; assess and evaluate investment projects in terms of technology; assess technological level .

Manage information technology projects.

Organize consulting activities - information services on science technology materials.

Organize radiation safety evaluation and license the use of X-ray equipment in medicine; grant certificates for scientific and technological activities.

As a permanent body of the City Council for Science and Technology Development and the Fund of Science and Technology Development of the City, the department links and cooperates with science and technology institutions in and outside the country to implement the scientific and technological activities.
