Japan’s desires to cooperate with Can Tho city in the field of environment

Mr. Truong Quang Hoai Nam, Vice Chairman of Can Tho People’s Committee, recently had a meeting with the delegation of Nagasaki Friendship Association, Japan to promote friendship and cooperation between the two sides and strengthen the cooperation in investment in the field of environment.

At the meeting, representatives of the Nagasaki Friendship Association, Japan presented the programs of activities in the field of environment and environmental protection project on the Mekong River that Japan interested. Also, they expressed their desires to cooperate in the implementation of projects related to waste treatment, waste water, waste- to- energy projects from the waste treatment process, ect in Can Tho city.

Mr. Truong Quang Hoai Nam, Vice Chairman of Can Tho People’s Committee, said that through the diplomacy activities between people in Nagasaki, Japan and Can Tho city, the relationship between the two localities has been strengthened step by step promoting opportunities for investment, trading, ect. Currently, Can Tho City has had two wastewater treatment plants in Tra Noc and Thot Not Industrial Zones. In addition, the city is starting construction of solid waste treatment plant in Thoi Lai district with the daily capacity of processing 400 tons of wastes. In order to solve environmental problems arising in the development process, the city wishes to cooperate in investment with Japan in the field of environment in the coming time, especially in the waste treatment and industrial wastewater.
