Opening program “Sac Xuan miet vuon, 2018”

The program “Sac Xuan miet vuon 2018” (Spring in the countryside) was officially opened at Can Tho city’s Museum on January 31 morning. Attending the program were leader representatives of the Central and Can Tho city, representatives of departments and agencies, artists, photographers, sculptors, painters and many visitors.

The program “Sac Xuan miet vuon, 2018” is an annual event of the city to welcome Glorious Party and Mau Tuat Spring. By recreating the scene of the market in the southern countryside of Viet Nam in Tet holiday, the city hopes to convey to domestic and foreign visitors special features of the locality and create a right and useful playing- field for everybody.

The program introduces to visitors many typical types of tangible and intangible cultural heritage of ethnic groups (Kinh, Hoa, Khmer, Cham) through traditional performing, such as: don ca tai tu (southern amateur music), hat boi (classical drama); traditional cuisine, such as: making pancakes, cylindrical glutinous rice cake, soft thin vermicelli noodles and so on; showing traditional arts and crafts, such as: making mats, conical hats, coconut leaf decoration and so on.

The program “Sac Xuan miet vuon, 2018” will be held to serve local people and visitors from January 31 to February 4. Especially, the activity of writing calligraphy will last until February 20, 2018 (Lunar December 15, 2017 to Lunar January 5, 2018)
