Reporting to Hungarian delegates, the investor of the project building Can Tho Oncology Hospital- Can Tho Department of Health has informed some information about the implementation of the project. According to Mr. Cao Minh Chu, Deputy Director of Can Tho Department of Health, the investment project of building Can Tho Oncology Hospital with 500 beds has the total investment of 70.574 million EUR (nearly VND 1.730 billion), of which EUR 56.99 million comes from the Hungarian Government’s ODA loan, equivalent to over VND 1.395 billion, making up 88.8%, and EUR 13.584 million is the counterpart fund of Can Tho City, nearly VND 333 billion, making up 19.2%.
Mr. Vo Thanh Thong, Chairman of Can Tho People’s Committee said that in order to complete and put Can Tho Oncology Hospital into operation, the construction project must carry out 13 sub-projects of which the last one is used for bomb disposal in the building area. However, Can Tho City finished this work before, so this bidding package will not be included in the project and the project finally has only 12 sub-projects.
According to Can Tho Department of Health, the project has implemented 4 out of 12 sub-projects including general designing and providing equipment technology and working construction, consulting on geological survey for the construction, consulting on the requirement document and analizing the bidding packages, consulting and monitoring the working construction and installing equipment. The constructors of remaining ones are expectected to be selected from April 20th to June 30th 2017. Particularly, the constructor of the nineth bidding package, consulting on quality of the construction, will be implemented to select in the first quarter of 2018.
At the working sessions, on behalf of the Hungarian delegation, Mr. Tombor Bálint highly appreciated Can Tho’s efforts to hasten the progress of the project as well as well implement the sub- projects perfectly. Mr.Tombor Bálint also requested Can Tho to hasten the remaining sub- projects, obey the plan, the schedule and the time for implementing the project that the investor has planned before in order to finish and put the hospital in operation on time, avoiding the delays with any reasons.
At the end of the working session, Mr. Tombor Bálint suggested Can Tho City change the time of lauching Can Tho Oncology Hospital to early June because Hungary would like to send a senior leader to Vietnam to attend the lauching ceremony. Before that proposal, the People’s Committee of Can Tho agreed and changed the time to early June instead of late May as scheduled.
Can Tho Oncology Hospital was designed as a hospital- hotel model with advanced cancer treatment equipment and technology to reduce the treating costs, suitable with the standards of living of people in the Mekong Delta. The hospital will be also a leading centre for research and training on cancer treatment of Vietnam.
