Can Tho City People’s Committee and Nam Can Tho University Sign Memorandum of Cooperation for Development

The aforementioned cooperation is expected to create favorable conditions for both parties to leverage their potential and strengths to build and advance the city’s education and training sector, making it increasingly modern and capable of meeting society’s growing demands.

On the afternoon of May 14, at the headquarters of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, a ceremony was held to sign a memorandum of cooperation for development between the Can Tho City People’s Committee and Nam Can Tho University.

In attendance were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hai, Member of the Standing Committee of Can Tho City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People’s Council; Mr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Member of the Standing Committee of Can Tho City Party Committee and Chairman of the Can Tho City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairwoman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee; leaders of Nam Can Tho University; and representatives from relevant city departments and agencies.

In the memorandum, the Can Tho City People’s Committee and Nam Can Tho University outlined four key areas for cooperative development in the coming period: Education and training; Science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation; Healthcare and preventive medicine; Industry consulting and management. These areas aim to effectively serve the requirements for the city’s socio-economic development.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairwoman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee, stated that this cooperation will create favorable conditions for both parties to harness their potential and strengths to build and develop the city’s education and training sector, making it increasingly modern and responsive to society’s rising demands. She added that it will also contribute to successfully achieving the goals and tasks for developing the education and training sector in line with the spirit of Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW, issued on August 5, 2020, by the Politburo, regarding the development of Can Tho City to 2030 with a vision to 2045.

Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Rector of Nam Can Tho University, expressed confidence that the memorandum of cooperation will be swiftly translated into practical, effective, and sustainable programs and activities.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Rector of Nam Can Tho University, affirmed that this event not only demonstrates the city authorities’ commitment to the cause of education and training but also provides Nam Can Tho University with opportunities to contribute more significantly to the city’s socio-economic development. He noted that this will serve as a crucial foundation for the university to enhance training quality and develop high-quality human resources to meet the demands of integration and development.

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, with a training philosophy closely tied to practical application, Nam Can Tho University consistently prioritizes expanding cooperation with agencies, organizations, businesses, and local authorities. The university remains steadfast in its mission to train high-quality human resources equipped with ethics, skills, and professional expertise to meet the increasingly high demands of society and businesses.

“We are fully aware that effective coordination between higher education institutions and local authorities is one of the key factors in improving training quality, promoting scientific research, and making practical contributions to the sustainable development of the locality,” Dr. Nguyen Van Quang emphasized.
