The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Can Tho City reported that during the National Day holiday (from August 31 to September 3, 2024), the total number of tourists to Can Tho City was approximately 189,000, which reflects a 5% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Out of this total, it is estimated that about 66,000 were overnight guests, marking a 7% increase from 2023, including 1,300 international guests. The average room occupancy rate ranged from 75% to 85%, and during September 1 and 2, the average occupancy rate at accommodation establishments in the city center (Ninh Kieu district) was about 85 - 90%. The total revenue from tourism during the 4-day holiday is estimated to be VND 221 billion, reflecting an 11% increase from the same period in 2023.

During this time, in Can Tho City, numerous activities took place to serve tourists and residents. These included an art program to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 9, 2024) and the National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024); Round 3 of the National motorcycle racing championship “the Caltex Havoline Cub Prix Cup”; and an artistic lighting and water music performance on the night of National Day, September 2, at Cai Khe Boat Lock, Ninh Kieu District.

In addition to historical and cultural relic sites like the Temple of Hung Kings and the Cai Rang floating market, other tourist areas in Can Tho offer diverse and rich entertainment activities to serve visitors. For example, the Eco Resort tourist area organizes activities such as eating typical Southern countryside dishes and childhood snacks and learning how to make puffed rice cake. The Ong De tourist area offers many exciting folk games, a space for folk cakes, and a variety of hometown cuisine.
