City Leaders Welcome Consul General of the Republic of India in Ho Chi Minh City

On the afternoon of September 30, Mr. Duong Tan Hien - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, along with representatives from relevant departments and agencies, warmly welcomed Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi - Consul General of the Republic of India in Ho Chi Minh City.

During the meeting, on behalf of the city's People's Committee leadership, Mr. Duong Tan Hien expressed deep gratitude to the Consul General for his valuable contributions to strengthening cooperation between Can Tho City and Indian partners in particular, and between Vietnam and India in general. This has opened up many promising new cooperation opportunities, especially in agriculture, high technology, healthcare, and education.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien also mentioned that through the Consul General, cultural and people-to-people diplomatic activities between the two sides have been effectively promoted and deeply implemented. This includes the "Building Rural Transportation Bridges on Transportation Routes in the Districts of Can Tho City" project, using a non-refundable aid of 50,000 USD from India's Quick Impact Project (QIP) Fund for the fiscal year 2024-2025. This project is evidence of the effective and sustainable cooperation between the two sides, bringing practical benefits to the local people in the areas where it is implemented.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien affirmed that there is still significant potential for cooperation between the two sides, particularly in the fields of education, culture, arts, information technology, tourism, trade, and investment promotion. Based on the previously signed Cooperation Agreement between the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Foreign Affairs of Can Tho City, Mr. Duong Tan Hien expressed hope that both sides will continue to strengthen information exchange to effectively organize activities for cooperation and connectivity across various fields. He also expressed his hope that in the near future, in his new position, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi will continue to support Can Tho City by connecting Indian businesses and investors to explore investment opportunities in the city.

Thanking the warm sentiments of the city's government and people, Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi affirmed that he will continue to act as a bridge to promote the cooperation between India and Vietnam to further develop in a positive direction. Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi also mentioned that the increasing number of flights between the two countries creates favorable conditions to promote economic, investment, cultural, and tourism connections in the near future.
