In 2023, the tax sector of Can Tho City achieved a state budget revenue of 10,843 billion VND, reaching 100.76% of the assigned estimate.

To recognize and honor the outstanding achievements in fulfilling tax obligations by organizations and individuals, the People's Committee of Can Tho City decided to award Certificates of Commendation from the Chairman of the People's Committee to 6 taxpayers, and the Tax Department of the city awarded Certificates of Appreciation to 65 taxpayers. These are organizations and individuals who have demonstrated creativity, overcome difficulties to maintain production and business operations, complied with tax policies and laws, and fulfilled their obligations to the state budget.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Duong Tan Hien acknowledged the contributions of the business community to the city, especially praising and congratulating the 71 exemplary businesses for their outstanding performance in fulfilling tax obligations in 2023.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien stated that in 2023, amidst favorable economic and social conditions, there were also new difficulties and challenges that had a significant impact on the recovery and growth of the economy and society. However, with the leadership, direction, and management of the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee of the city, and the cooperation, joint efforts, and contributions of organizations, individuals, and the business community, they have overcome difficulties, maintained stability, and achieved effective production and business development. There is an increasing awareness of compliance with tax laws, and more organizations and individuals voluntarily fulfill their tax obligations to the state.

To achieve the targets and objectives for 2024 and the following years, Mr. Duong Tan Hien requested the business community and entrepreneurs in the city to continue to strive for improved production and business efficiency, improve technical machinery for producing goods not only in quantity but also in quality and competitiveness. They should also better implement tax policies to contribute to economic growth and successfully implement the economic and social development plan for 2024 and the following years. "The People's Committee of the city will continue to accompany the business community, entrepreneurs, and provide timely support to overcome difficulties and obstacles, creating the best conditions for the development and sustainability of businesses and entrepreneurs," emphasized Mr. Duong Tan Hien.

Regarding the city's Tax Department, Mr. Duong Tan Hien suggested focusing on promptly implementing measures to support taxpayers, assisting in promptly resolving difficulties and obstacles for businesses in implementing tax policies, fully and timely implementing new tax policies or amendments and supplements so that taxpayers can grasp and comply with tax laws correctly. At the same time, they should promote administrative procedure reforms towards transparency and openness in the activities of the tax authorities, with the goal of satisfying taxpayers as the striving objective of every tax official...

On this occasion, the Tax Department of Can Tho City launched a campaign to encourage the good implementation of tax policies and laws in 2024 to all organizations and individuals engaged in production and business activities in the city.
