Delegates pressed the start button for VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park

The project is strategically situated at the intersection of key vertical and horizontal highways within the Mekong Delta region, adjacent to three provinces: Dong Thap, An Giang, and Hau Giang. This prime location provides convenient access to the port infrastructure, airports, and city center utility services. VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park is planned with a total area of 900 hectares and is expected to create employment opportunities for 100,000 workers, attracting US$3.5 billion in investment upon completion. Phase 1 of the project covers an area of 293.7 hectares with a total investment of more than VND3,700 billion (US$ 153,993,777) and will initially provide employment for 20,000 to 30,000 workers.

VSIP Can Tho is designed to be developed as a smart and sustainable industrial park. Its goal is to become a major food processing and distribution center in the Southern region, establishing a logistics network "from center to port" and providing the necessary infrastructure to effectively support the supply chain needs of investors.

Within the framework of the launching ceremony, VSIP signed a memorandum of understanding with 12 investors for land leases and business cooperation.

Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, delivered a speech at the Ground-breaking ceremony

At the ceremony, Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, said that VSIP Group has achieved remarkable results in 27 years of development (1996-2023), contributing significantly to the economic growth and social welfare of Vietnam in general and the localities where VSIP operates in particular. Moreover, VSIP’s development has become a symbol of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore. Along with the orientation of green and sustainable development, VSIP also focuses on innovation, especially in the field of renewable energy such as rooftop solar energy.

Chairman Tran Viet Truong stated, "With the government's attention and support, as well as cooperation from central ministries and agencies, coupled with Can Tho City's determination and the capabilities of the VSIP Company, Phase 1 of the Vinh Thanh Industrial Park marks the establishment of the seventh industrial park within the boundaries of Can Tho City."

Chairman Tran Viet Truong believed that the project would soon be deployed and put into operation according to the set schedule, creating a conducive environment to serve investors in Can Tho in particular and the Mekong Delta in general. The government of Can Tho City is committed to providing favorable conditions for both domestic and foreign businesses throughout their investment and operational activities in the city.

Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, spoke at the inauguration ceremony.

Speaking at the Launching Ceremony, Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment said that the inauguration ceremony is a follow-up to the online groundbreaking event for VSIP Can Tho, which occurred in Hanoi on the same day and was presided over by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore.

After over 30 years of establishment and development, Vietnam has now formed a system of Industrial Parks across the country. The establishment of nearly 300 Industrial Parks has had a huge impact on the socio-economic development of the country, she added.

According to Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, VSIP is a successful model of cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore and is one of the most professional and preeminent investors. VSIP complexes located across the country are among some of the most modern industrial parks in Vietnam. Since the establishment of the first VSIP in Vietnam a decade ago, there have been 16 additional industrial parks built in the country.

“If we successfully implement the first phase of the project on nearly 300 ha, it’ll be the premise for building an industrial park ecosystem covering 1,000 ha. That ecosystem will facilitate the development of industrial and service projects, logistics facilities, and amenities for workers towards developing the park sustainably and more effectively,” said Ngoc.

Handover of a MoU on development orientation and expansion of Phase 2 of the Vinh Thanh Industrial Park

Can Tho City currently boasts an international airport, a well-developed network of waterways, and a large port. As a centrally governed city, Can Tho has obtained approval for its economic and social development plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision of becoming a commercial and service hub for the Mekong Delta region by 2030. Can Tho City possesses all the essential components to propel the growth of aquaculture, horticulture and agriculture while enhancing its position as a key hub for food processing and distribution. The city also promotes processing industries to increase product value and participate in the global value chain. Vinh Thanh Industrial Park project - VSIP Can Tho is expected to develop the regional economy, shifting from agriculture to industry, services and logistics
