Building a strong brand name, raising the position of Can Tho tourism

Can Tho tourism will focus on building brand name, professionalizing and raising position. This is the direction of activity in the last 6 months of Can Tho Tourism Association.

The report of Vietnam Tourism Association showed that tourism in Can Tho city, which is one of the cities having the tourism industry as the key economic sector, is strong developed. The total arrivals and sales have always grown in excess. However, experts do still not appreciate tourism in Can Tho. One of the main reasons is that activities of the enterprises in the field of tourism are separate, fragmented and spontaneous. Therefore, the development orientation in the coming time, Can Tho Tourism will focus on building strong brand name, raising the position to match the potential of the locality.

To do that, Mr. Dang Tan Hung, Chairman of Can Tho Tourism Association, said that the association would work closely with relevant departments to propose strategies to develop tourism industry scientifically. Accordingly, the industry will have a connection with each other, creating a closed service chain, unified floor price and quality of services. This aims to end the situation that every place has its price without commitment to providing its quality which caused visitors faith losing. When the service chain is formed, crossing- province tours will be enhanced with quality, variety of services. They will not also boring and trampling anymore among product types across the provinces. Instead, a variety of dishes is served to diners with a full range of local specialties. In that connection, Can Tho will play the role of a “conductor”, based on the strength of the regional center.

The City Tourism Association will have links with the training centers in the “order” of human resource standards, jointly develop teaching curricula, support specialists in teaching and places for Tourism students practicing. Paralleling with these plans is many projects improving the level of foreign language and communication skills, handling situations for employees in the industry. These activities aim to standardize the quality of human resources, contributing to the process of building a strong brand name for Can Tho tourism.

According to Can Tho Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, in the first 6 months of 2017, total visitors coming to Can Tho reached nearly 3.8 million, up to 29 percent in comparison with that of the same period last year; Accommodation increased 12 percent, traveling increased 26 percent. The turnover from tourism reached VND 1.122 billion, up to 16 percent in comparison with that of the same period in 2016.
