I. Overview:

Functions, tasks, organizational structure: 

* Function: Can Tho Women’s Union is a socio – political organization, widely gathering all classes of women in the city, having function of representation, protection of women’s equality, democracy, legal and legitimate benefits, participating in Party construction, in State managing; unite, gather, propagate, educate, campaign, organize and guide women to implement Party’s policies, State’s law and policies.

* Task: Propadate, campaign, educate women to promote ethics, good traditions of the nation and Vietnamese women; organize to create conditions for women to raise their awareness, standard, ability in every aspects, actively implement tasks of developing socio – economy, security – national defense, build prosperous, equalitarian, progressive and happy family; participate in society construction and critic, supervise law implementation, policies on equality, protect legitimate rights and benefits of women;  counsel with the Party, the State proposals of women’s work in order to create conditions for women to be equal and developed; gather all classes of women, develop members, build strong organization; raise the quality of Union’s personnel to meet the requirements in the period of promoting nation industrialization and modernization; diversify legal income sources to build and develop firm Union’s funds, support Union’s activities; unite, gather women from other countries, organizations, progressives in the area and the world for the aim of equality, development and peace.

* Organization: Can Tho Women’s Union has 9 units urban/ suburban districts and 5 branches.
