-      A socio – politico – professional organization of journalists. Under the direction of the Party, State’s management, it operates in accordance with law and Vietnam Journalists Association regulations. 

-      A organization which gather, unite, encourage journalists, promote creativity of members. Represent journalists’ legal aspiration, benefits.  

-      Journalists Association’s tasks: Contribute ideas to Party’s and State’s organs in activities’ direction and management, press programming, contribute to building and supervision of Party’s policies, State’s law and policies on information, press. Contribute ideas to authorized organs in the implementation of structure, system, policies on the press and journalists, the implementation of senior executives’ accreditation, dismission in the press agencies. Protect legal rights, benefits of the association, members – journalists in the press’ activities. Organize training classes to enhance press’ specialist skills for members – journalists. Counsel People’s Committee of Can Tho City to organize annual Phan Ngoc Hien Press prize in Can Tho city. 

-      Executive board of Can Tho  Journalists Association is voted in Representative Congress with five – year term. Executive board of Can Tho Journalists Association  in the term 2010 – 2015 has 15 members, in which there are 6 members in Standing Committee concluding, President (in charge) and 2 Vice – president (concurrently) and 3 commissioners (concurrently). President (in charge) does the task of a permanent member with 5 cadres in charge of Association’s work are on duty at the Office of Association – Standing Committee of  Can Tho Journalists Association.

-      Can Tho city’s Journalists Association  has 05 (five)  branches and 01 (one) Journalists’ associated branch with 337 members.
